Sanctuary Cove, a 474 hectare resort development at the Northern end of Queensland's Gold Coast was the brain child of the late Mike Gore. Officially opened in 1987, Frank Sinatra and Whitney Houston performed at the 'Ultimate Event' which cost $16M to stage. The Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club and the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove are big draw cards to the development. Sanctuary Cove provides a residential environment with its own shopping centre, 15 restaurants, entertainment facilities, marinas and golf courses, all fronting the Coomera River. Sanctuary Cove is home to the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Showwhich attracts visitors from around the world. It was the first gated community of its type in Australia, forcing Queensland planners to relegislate for it to proceed. It has been dubbed Australia's leading Golf Resort and is situated to the west of Paradise Point and to the East of Hope Island. Some eateries of note at Sanctuary Cove include Georges Paragon Seafood Restaurant, Bahia Restaurant, Marinara Restaurante and the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove. Some of the Gold Coast's most impressive homes may be found within Sanctuary Cove. There are now approximately 1,939 properties at Sanctuary Cove. In June 2010 a new record sale price of $7,220,000 was recorded for a sale of a six bedroom home on The Parkway. In 2010 the median sale price of Sanctuary Cove was $967,500 and there were 128 properties sold in that year.
